Max's Autobiography

I'm 45 years old, standing 6'3", and have blue/grey eyes and white hair. I found this free web site and decided to share with others a little story about my life.

I begin the story when I was about nine, for my dad had left us (my mom, Barbara, me and my twin brother Mike) when I was 9 years old. When I was 11 years old, mother married Bud my step-father. Some of you know what it is like having a step-parent. When I was sixteen I made some mistakes that would follow me my whole life.

One of the biggest was quitting High school at sixteen. But I was unhappy at home and I meet a young girl (she was fifteen) named Kathy. She was also unhappy at her home. So, we both quit school and got married (this was in 1973). A lot has happened in my life since then.

Kathy and I where too young and our marriage did not last. After that I was single until I was 21 years old, then I married a beautiful young lady named Joy. She was four years older than me. I had known her since I was 10 years old. She had been a very good friend for years but when we married she became my best friend. Joy and I had our first son Jasen in 1983. When he was six weeks old he had to have heart surgery and all his life he had heart problems. In the same year Jasen was born I was riding my 550 Honda street bike home from work one day and a drunk driver hit me almost head on. When I came up on the truck I was going 45 and he made a left turn in front of me from a side street. It was the man's third DUI. When the bike and I slammed almost head on, my right knee hit the truck (severing one of the ligaments in my right knee) as I flew over the cab. My right arm hit the windshield (I had to get over 50 stitches). Then I flew over the cab landing on my back on the on coming lane of the street. My helmet popped off when my head hit the road. The whole backside of my body was black, blue, yellow, and purple for weeks. I have two bad wrists and two bad knees to this day. I consider myself fortunate to have survived it.

A year later in 1984, we had our second son, Jared. Unfortunately, 7 months into her pregnancy with Jared, Joy was diagnosed with cancer and had a tumor the size of a volleyball in side her, and she had to have a c-section. She fought cancer for 3 years with me by her side. And after eight operations and many treatments I watched Joy, my best friend, breath her last breath of life on August 16, 1987 at 1 o'clock in the morning. A part of myself died that morning, but I had to go on with my life. I had two little boys that needed me now more than ever.

I raised my two boys on my own until 1990. I remarried so the boys would have a mother figure in their lives. I had done the same thing my mother had done, thinking I was doing what was best for the boys. Unfortunately two years later she did not want to be married any longer and I took Jasen and Jared and moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Leaving her and our new son Lance in Portland, Oregon.

As Jasen was growing up he struggled with a heart problem. As a parent it was very hard to watch him struggle, but he didn't let it make him bitter for he was a sweet hearted, friendly child. But when he turned thirteen he had an aneurism because of his heart problem. And once again I had to watch someone very close to me pass away, when Jasen breathed his last breath. I was devastated, but I had to carry on for my son Jared.

Jared is eighteen now, and I am proud of him. I also have Lance living with me now, he is thirteen. His mother decided he needed to be with his father now. So, I'm a single dad with a son ready for college and another in grade school.

Something that has followed me most of my life is that I am a High school drop-out. High school drop-out's don't get very good jobs. Its been hard on us as a family. School was hard for me, I thought I was stupid, I did not know at the time that I had dyslexia, not until years later! But for someone who has dyslexia I have a gift for visualizing things in my mind. I can invent something and put it together and make it work all in my mind. I even saved up a little money and got a design patented on an invention idea. But, after much research I found it takes anywhere from three hundred thousand plus to get an idea to the market. That ended my dreams of providing for my family through my inventions. So, I just live day to day and try to make ends meet.

I just want to thank you for taking the time to ready my story. And, if you have an extra million lying around that you don't need send it our way. Ha ha ha............ But really, if you want to help us out, anything you could give would be a blessing to us and very much appreciated.
